LANCASTER, Wis. -- Three cattle are dead and an Iowa man suffered minor injuries after a crash in Grant County.

Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman said at 1:29 p.m. a 61-year-old man was traveling south on U.S. Highway 61 in a 2001 Peterbelt semi with a livestock trailer attached. Dreckman said the trailer had approximately 63 head of cattle in it.

The man was approaching the roundabout and was negotiating a slight curve in the roadway, when he reportedly failed to yield right away, traveling over the center divider, striking a roadway sign. The tractor trailer turned over the driver side, sliding across the roundabout and striking another roadway sign before coming to a rest and blocking the roundabout.

The man was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Lancaster EMS, Lancaster Fire Department, the Grant County Highway Department and Guy's and Truck and Tractor Service Inc.
