Luann de Lesseps on Why a Relationship With Olivier Sarkozy Didn’t Work Out

Luann de Lesseps’ penchant for dating European men is well documented. If he’s French and charming, then all the better. Of course, there are many more parameters involved in choosing a mate.

Olivier Sarkozy is both French and according to Luann, also charming. And the two did briefly date. So what went wrong between the banker and the Real Housewives of New York alum?

Luann revealed why she and Olivier are “polar opposites”

Luann dished to Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast that their social habits made them incompatible.

“Well, listen, I adore him. We’re good friends,” she teased. “You know, good friends.”

“He likes to stay home, he doesn’t like to go to parties. He’s not a big social guy. Now, that’s the polar opposite of who I am, right?” Luann explained.

“He’s a private person — and he’s a great guy, by the way. [But] he doesn’t like the press or photographs and things. I get it,” the RHONY alum said.

The Millionaire Matchmaker star Patti Stanger made the same argument in an interview with Virtual Reali-Tea in April.

“It didn’t work. He didn’t want to do anything. He’s like, ‘I like to stay home, I don’t want to go anywhere,’” Patti explained.

“Luann is the life of the party. There’s no way,” the RHONY alum’s good friend added. “She’s like, ‘He was so boring.’’

The duo did court the paparazzi for one date together. Olivier took the “Money Can’t Buy You Class” singer to Le Bilboquet, a place known for being prone to photographers. Luann questioned the decision.

“But we went to Bilboquet, which there’s photographers everywhere. I’m like, ‘Why take me to Bilboquet if you don’t want to be noticed?’” she said. “Anyway, he’s a super cool guy. We have friends in common.”

If not Olivier, then another Frenchman perhaps? Luann reiterated her dating preferences during the interview.

“I’m dating, I’m having the best time. I prefer European men, so that’s a little harder — but they do exist,” she dished.
