HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) say a maintenance project to improve the longevity of the William H. Natcher Bridge over the Ohio River in Daviess County is scheduled to begin next week.

Officials say this will result in some lane restrictions and delays during the month of August. The bridge is supported by 96 cables that connect the bridge deck with the two support towers. Those cables are scheduled for maintenance to ensure that they continue to operate as designed for many years to come.

The KYTC says crews will put out signage and begin lane restrictions between July 29 and August 2. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of August. Motorists should anticipate one-lane traffic with flaggers for the duration.

Officials say some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers and personnel are along the roadway near traffic flow.

The KYTC says this project is scheduled to be completed well in advance of a project to replace decking on the Glover Cary Bridge, also known as The Blue Bridge, in Owensboro.
