Aaron Rodgers Slams 'Deceiving' Coverage Of His Unexcused Absence

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a new beef -- how his minicamp absence has been portrayed in the media.

Rodgers referred to the language reporters have used as "deceiving" while discussing the topic on a recent episode of "Pardon My Take."

“They can arbitrarily put a [mandatory] tag on whatever week of OTAs that they want,” said Rodgers on the episode.

“This is the ‘minicamp week,’ which makes it more mandatory than other weeks, but it’s an OTAs schedule. That’s how words can be a little deceiving. They can make a story about how I missed minicamp when it was really two OTA days. I came to the first 10.”

The NY Post's Ryan Dunleavy reported the Jets only had nine voluntary practices because head coach Robert Saleh cancelled the last one. But Rodgers' point remains the same.

If the goal is ultimately to be at as many offseason practices as possible, Rodgers only missed two.

But at the same time, it's not inaccurate for a media member to report Rodgers missed mandatory minicamp. Because he did.

The quarterback was in Egypt for the portion of the offseason schedule that the Jets made a requirement for all players.

Rodgers tried to move the goal posts in his favor with a semantics argument. Dunleavy noted that the quarterback has done that previously .

Rodgers sparked a heated debate in 2021 when he said publicly that he was "immunized" against COVID-19. It was rather clear Rodgers intended fans to interpret that as he was "vaccinated" but that was not the case.
