Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is projected by many analysts to have a breakout season in 2024.

Along with a breakout season comes breaking NFL records and Bleacher Reports' Brent Sobleski believes Lamb could surpass Calvin Johnson 's 1,964 receiving yard season and Michael Thomas' 149-catch campaign.

What is it going to take and why is it possible?

Sobleski breaks it down for fans:

"First, Lamb needs to average nearly nine catches per contest to make it happen. He and quarterback Dak Prescott were humming late last season. During the Cowboys final seven games (including their playoff appearance), Lamb averaged 9.4 yards per catch.

"Second, Dallas did next-to-nothing to improve the situation around Lamb, who played all 17 regular-season contests in back-to-back years. The team still lacks a legitimate WR2 and Brandin Cooks is now one year older.

"Finally, Lamb is in a contract year. If he doesn't sign an extension between now and the start of the regular season, the first-team All-Pro will have something to prove and a message to send to the organization."

Lamb enters this fall fresh off of hauling in a league and career-high 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023. He earned his third Pro Bowl nod and was nominated to the NFL's First-Team All-Pro list for the first time in his career.

With his receptions, Lamb broke Hall of Famer Michael Irvin ’s 111 catches 1995 record. His 112th catch of the season made him the all-time seasonal leader in receptions in Cowboys history. And his 1,749 yards shattered Irvin’s previous franchise record of 1,603 yards.

There is certainly more history to be made as Lamb remains the star of the show in Dallas' offense heading into this season.

Will Lamb Report to Cowboys Training Camp?

For now, Lamb is expected to skip out on Cowboys' training camp which kicks off on Thursday, July 25.

That's because the team has yet to offer him an extension, but a new report says it should be coming sooner rather than later with the Cowboys allegedly prioritizing Lamb's new contract over Dak Prescott's .

"According to a person with knowledge of the front office's thinking, the Cowboys are putting Lamb's contract extension talks ahead of quarterback Dak Prescott's," Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports.

That doesn't mean Prescott is less important it just means the team is trying to avoid a holdout if they can.

Lamb missed OTAs and mandatory minicamp this spring, but skipping training camp could cost him a $50,000 daily fine.
