These Sleepers Could Make A Run At NFL MVP

Every year it’s always fun to throw in some NFL Future bets on awards and things like that, and everyone can usually get a pretty good idea of who will be in the MVP race long before the season starts, but who are the sleepers that could show up to accept the award at the end of the season?

6. Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy is currently +1600 to win the NFL MVP Award over at Fanduel Sportsbook, and that feels like a crazy number for a guy who was in the running for the award deep into last season.

Although Brandon Aiyuk ’s status is up in the air currently, it looks like Purdy will return all his weapons from last season plus the addition of Ricky Pearsall . Purdy was the MVP frontrunner last season until week 16 where he threw four interceptions.

5. Jared Goff

Anyone can currently get Jared Goff for MVP at +3500 on Fanduel, and that’s a pretty good price for a guy who only has to play outside of a dome three times this season. The three-time Pro Bowler Goff will have most of his weapons back, including a freshly paid Amon Ra St. Brown and a motivated Jameson Williams, along with Sam LaPorta and the stout running game.

4. Lamar Jackson

It’s crazy that the reigning MVP, Lamar Jackson, isn’t even in the top four in the betting odds for the award, coming in at +1400 on Fanduel. Last season, Jackson won the award for the second time in his career, and hopefully, Mark Andrews will be available for more games this season.

He lost Odell Beckham to free agency but gained Derrick Henry to help him in the rushing department. If Jackson stays healthy, he’ll always be in the MVP race.

3. Matthew Stafford

Coming into last season, people were counting out Matthew Stafford , but then he went on to show us that he still had it when he finished eighth in MVP voting and fourth in Comeback Player of the Year voting. He made the Pro Bowl and finished the season sixth in passing yards per game with 264.3 yards.

Warren Sharp rated the Rams’ schedule as the 17th hardest in the league. If Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are both playing, Stafford should be in for a good year. His odds are +2500 over at Fanduel.

2. Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence spent a lot of games banged up with various little injuries last season, but when he was healthier in 2022, he finished 7th in MVP voting. His receiver room is completely revamped, with Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr. to go with a returning Christian Kirk and Evan Engram, to name a few. Lawrence was fourth in the NFL in interceptions last year, so he’d have to clean that mess up to cash in on his +2500 odd to win MVP.

1. Tyreek Hill

This is a gigantic long shot, sitting at +10000 on Fanduel. The chances of Tyreek Hill winning MVP are super low. But it does feel like the NFL would give the MVP award to a receiver if they hit that 2,000-yard marker that Hill and Justin Jefferson have been close to in recent years.

Last year, Hill put up 1,799 yards with 13 touchdowns while missing one game. If he can somehow get to 2,000 the award could be his. It might still not even be enough to pry the award from a quarterback.
