EBENSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) – Downtown Ebensburg will “shutdown” Friday evening as organizers gear up for the annual homecoming event.

The intersection of Center and High Streets will close at 4 p.m. as the city prepares for a free live concert in the street featuring The Chris Higbee Band. Higbee will perform live 8-11 p.m. on Friday.

The aptly named “Downtown Shutdown” on Friday, July 26, kicks off Saturday’s homecoming event, which will feature a community-wide yard sale, outdoor flea market, book sale, basket raffle and more.

Organizers announced new events this year, including the Ebensburg Youth League hosting a Baseball Breakfast (registration required), as well as these events: Gentle Yoga in the Veteran’s Park; baton and dance shows at Wolf’s Performing Arts, and an interactive opportunity with the IU-8 STEM Rocks Activity van at Lake Rowena.

In addition, visitors can explore a fishing derby, free tennis clinics, a farmer’s market and a Homecoming 5K and Duathlon race.

“There are a lot of different activities happening throughout the day and into the evening – it’s an event that our community loves to celebrate,” Danea Koss, Community Development director, said in a statement.

Homecoming activities will continue through Saturday evening at Lake Rowena with fireworks, food trucks and live music performances.
