Long Beach police arrested three men in connection with the March 20 murder of a street vendor.

Yener Ramirez-Miranda wasn’t the intended target of the gunfire near a park in Long Beach, according to police.

“Mr. Ramirez-Miranda was a beloved member of the Long Beach community. Safety takes all of us and gun violence is not tolerated in our city," Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson wrote in a press release . "As a City, we are committed to disrupting this cycle of gang-related violence and to keeping everyone safe."

Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish said comprehensive work by detectives led to the arrests of Raylon Akers, 23, of Los Angeles, Rahman Abdallah, 19, of Long Beach, and James Havlicheck Jr., 33, of Lakewood.

KNX News’ Pete Demetriou reported Akers and Abdullah were booked for murder with bail set at $2 million. Havlicheck was booked for accessory to murder with bail set at $1 million.

“All three of these individuals have criminal histories, are documented gang members, and are prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions. These convictions range from auto theft and carrying concealed weapons to shooting at inhabited dwellings and evading police,” Hebeish said.

Long Beach police, along with other agencies, served six search warrants on July 18 and have obtained evidence that will be used in an effort to find and arrest additional suspects in the shooting, according to police.
