Earlier this summer, Charles Barkley announced his intention to retire from broadcasting at the conclusion of the 2024-25 NBA season.

Barkley's decision stemmed from TNT's expiring media rights deal with the NBA. TNT's decades-long run seemed doomed as streaming tech giants came in with huge offers for the NBA — but the Warner Bros-owned company shared a huge update in negotiations on Monday.

TNT announced that it's matched one of the offers extended to the NBA. Though the company didn't call out any specific offer by name, it reportedly matched the offer of around $1.8 billion per year extended by Amazon.

This announcement sparked a frenzy among fans on social media. Many pointed out the fact that this decision could coax Barkley back out of retirement to keep his position with Inside the NBA.

Barkley's name is all over social media after this announcement.

"So does this mean Chuck is going to unretire and stay around?" one fan asked.

"Charles Barkley seeing tnt come Up with the money to match Amazon knowing he’s gonna have to go back to work and not golf all day," another said.

"Charles Barkley finding out WBD matched Amazon offer," another added.

It's unclear if the NBA will accept TNT's offer, but this announcement certainly sparked some excitement among fans of the beloved Inside the NBA program.
