Marvel ’s Kevin Feige says that there are “no immediate plans” for Eternals 2 at this time.

Directed by  Chloé Zhao, Eternals , which is the 26th film in the MCU franchise, was released in United States theaters in November 2021. It made approximately $402.1 million at the global box office off an estimated $236.2 million budget.

While reactions from fans and critics to Eternal were mixed, the Marvel Studios ’ movie’s post-credit scene left the door open for a potential sequel. Patton Oswalt, who voices Pip the Troll, once said that he believed Eternals 2 was happening; however, he later clarified that he had been misled and that there was no official confirmation regarding a sequel.

What did Kevin Feige say about Eternals 2?

Speaking with Inverse , Feige said that there was nothing immediately in the works regarding a potential Eternals 2.

“There are no immediate plans for Eternals 2,” he said. “There are, and I think you’ve seen maybe in a trailer we’ve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean.”

Feige is referencing the recently released Captain America: Brave New World trailer, which hints that Tiamut, the Celestial who was turned into marble and was then left in the ocean, will have some role to play in the forthcoming movie, which releases on February 14, 2025.

Eternals starred Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.

Eternals is currently streaming on Disney+. Next up for the MCU is Deadpool & Wolverine, which is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and Emma Corrin, among others. Deadpool & Wolverine releases in United States theaters this coming weekend on July 26, 2024.
