Mark Carnevale, a former winner on the PGA Tour and one of the most recognizable voices in golf, unexpectedly passed away on Monday.

    He was 64 years old.

Known by many in the golf world for his time with PGA Tour Radio, Carnevale competed in 212 PGA Tour events over the course of his career. He earned Rookie of the Year honors in 1992 after winning the Chattanooga Classic at Council Fire Golf Club.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan released a statement Monday after reports of Carnevale's passing stunned the golf community.

"Mark was a beloved part of the TOUR family for a long time," Monahan said, via PGATour.com . "He was a member of that elite club, a PGA TOUR winner, and then he held numerous roles within the industry, most recently as a significant voice in PGA TOUR Radio’s coverage...

"We will miss Mark and send our condolences to his loved ones.”

Following his final year as a member on the PGA Tour in 1998, Carnevale shifted his focus and later became the tournament director for the Korn Ferry Tour’s Virginia Beach Open.

Several years later, in 2005, Carnevale started his broadcasting journey with SiriusXM Radio as a reporter at PGA TOUR events.

Having worked hundreds of tournaments since that point, Carnevale served as a walking reporter for PGA Tour Radio's coverage of the Genesis Scottish Open earlier this month.
