Two arrested after interstate police chase

UPDATE (8:45 p.m. on July 22, 2024) — Two people are in custody after a pursuit that started in Ohio ended on the interstate in Charleston Monday evening.

According to the West Virginia State Police, troopers took over the chase that came from Route 35, which ended on Interstate 64 East near the West Moreland exit around 8:15 p.m.

There was a large police presence trying to stop the vehicle, though it is not clear why the people in the car were wanted.

State Police said that at one point during the incident a woman was let out of the car.

Interstate Exits along Interstate 64 were blocked during the incident.

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — An active police chase has passed into Putnam County Monday after starting in Jackson County, Ohio.

According to Mason County Dispatch, the pursuit is currently in Putnam County on Route 35 after reportedly passing through Jackson County and Gallia County in Ohio as well as Mason County in West Virginia.

It has not yet been reported why the pursuit was initiated or who the suspect is.

Members of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and Mason County Sheriff’s Office are working to handle the situation. The West Virginia State Police is in charge of the investigation.
