Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat day is satisfying sweet tooth's for yet another year.

On July 25, Mid-Atlantic DQ, in partnership with GEICO, will begin raising money for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.

Every Blizzard sold will automatically result in a $1 donation to a local CHKD hospital.

Last year Mid-Atlantic Dairy Queens were able to raise over $12,000 to fund mental health services for the children hospitalized at CHKD. Now this year, 15 locations across Hampton Roads are hoping to exceed this and raise at least $14,000.

In 2020, MADQ pledged a $5 million fundraising campaign across a span of 10 years. As of 2024, they report having raised $1.8 million, and are on track to reach their goal by 2030.

"Helping kids see the world in a positive way will make the biggest impact on the future
of the Hampton Roads community,” said Mitch Sandlin, CEO of MADQ in a release.

However, they are not the only ones in the fight.

GEICO, one of Virginia’s biggest insurance companies, treated employees to 650 Blizzards. This year they plan on reaching new heights and buying 750 Blizzards to support CHKD.

But the fundraising does not stop with GEICO or in-person stores. Blizzards purchased through mobile order apps such as DoorDash, GrubHub and UberEats are also eligible for the $1 donation.
