    Missing boater found dead in St. Lawrence County on Tuesday

    WADDINGTON, N.Y. (WWTI) – Officials have declared a 19-year-old Massena man dead after finding his body near Waddington on Tuesday afternoon.

    New York State Police were looking for a missing boater that went overboard near Waddington. Divers from the NYSP Underwater Recovery Team located the missing passenger from a capsized boat.

    According to state police, they were called to Coles Creek Marina around 6 p.m. in the town of Waddington on the report of a capsized boat.

    Authorities investigated and their preliminary findings said that two people were in the boat when it overturned. One person made it to shore safely, but the other boater was not found.

    Multiple agencies like State Police. St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Massena, Waddington, Potsdam, Ogdensburg, Parishville, Hogansburg, Louisville, Brier Hill, Rensselaer Falls, Morristown, dive, and fire and rescue teams assisted in the efforts.

    The investigation is currently ongoing.
