New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh.

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has received criticism from pockets of fans over the years for keeping his composure and staying calm during some heated news conferences as he accumulated an overall record of 18-33 across his first three seasons in charge.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic indicated during a Tuesday appearance on the WFAN morning show that Saleh may show different sides of his personality as soon as September.

"We’re gonna see a different Robert Saleh this year," Russini explained, as shared by Ryan Chichester of Audacy. "I think he learned a lot about some of the mistakes he was making in the media last year, some of the mistakes about his cadence and his body language in the building, in the walls of the facility. A lot of that was used as a lesson for how they want to conduct themselves this year."

Russini and The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt generated plenty of headlines and sports-talk radio discussions with a January report about the 2023 Jets that detailed "flaws within the coaching staff, offensive personnel and the team’s culture" that impacted the club after starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles four offensive snaps into the regular-season opener.

One part of the story mentioned how Saleh was allegedly sent "into a tailspin" after it was leaked that former Jets signal-caller Zach Wilson was "reluctant to step back into the starting role" following what became the final benching of his club tenure.

The Jets officially acquired Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in April 2023. While some have repeatedly ripped New York for giving Rodgers too much power over the past 15 months or so, Russini somewhat praised the Jets for handing the future Hall of Famer "the keys" to a franchise that has gone 13 straight seasons without making the playoffs.

"He knows how to win," Russini said about Rodgers. "He understands what a good culture is. The problem I have had this whole time, watching how they’ve been operating, is allowing Aaron to have all the input because (general manager) Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh lose that leadership and credibility as the 'adults' running the show."

Jets owner Woody Johnson reportedly could part ways with Rodgers, Douglas and Saleh if the club doesn't end its playoff drought come January 2025. Regardless of any changes Saleh's made since last season, it seems his future with the Jets will be determined by how Rodgers performs assuming the 40-year-old can stay healthy through Week 18.
