Breanna Stewart Issues Warning About Team USA Ahead of Paris Olympics

Breanna Stewart is trying to temper expectations for the U.S. women's basketball team ahead of the start of the Paris Olympics.

The New York Liberty star spoke to reporters on Monday, warning that it could take a little while for the teammates to gel. The U.S. women's national team gets a pre-Olympic warm-up at the USA Basketball Showcase London, starting with a matchup against Germany on Tuesday.

Stewart warned that the first couple of games could be shaky.

"Since we've just gotten together, we probably won't show everything we've got because we haven't even gotten great at the basics," Stewart said .

The German team has a familiar face for Stewart, with her New York Liberty teammate Nyara Sabally playing for Germany along with her sister, Staou Saball of the Dallas Wings.

Team USA is a heavy favorite to repeat as gold medal winner, while Stewart personally is seeking a third gold medal. But the Liberty star said it starts with members of the team working on their chemistry.

"Really the focus is on ourselves, do what we can do be our best," Stewart said.
