Motorcyclist dead after head-on collision in Union County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — A 42-year-old man has died after the motorcycle he was driving hit another vehicle head-on along Hickory Star Road in Union County.

A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol states that a 42-year-man from Tennessee was traveling eastbound on Hickory Star Road near Booker Road on the afternoon of Saturday, July 20 when his 2007 Honda Shadow motorcycle lost control, crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on with the front of another vehicle.

The other vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Rollback truck, was able to come to a controlled stop within the roadway. The driver, a 36-year-old man, was uninjured. The motorcycle came to an uncontrolled stop after contacting the embankment on the south side of the roadway.

Blair had been wearing a helmet. No additional information was available.
