New York Giants embattled right tackle Evan Neal will start training camp on the active/PUP list, the team announced Tuesday.

Neal, who underwent surgery in the offseason to repair an ankle injury, missed the majority of the spring workouts other than participating in walkthrough sessions.

Injuries have been the theme throughout Neal's career since he was selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. When he's on the field, the Alabama product has struggled.

According to Pro Football Focus, Neal allowed 21 total pressures on 309 pass-blocking snaps during the 2023 season.

The Giants signed veteran Jermaine Eluemunor in free agency, but he spent the spring working at left guard. This is despite the right tackle position being his more dominant spot.

Players on the PUP list can come off at any time once they pass their physical, but this isn't a great start for a player who needs to prove he can hold a starting role going into his third season.

If Eluemunor doesn't slide over to right tackle when training camp begins Wednesday, it will likely be a combination of Josh Ezeudu and Matt Nelson.

The Giants also announced cornerback Aaron Robinson was placed on the PUP list while safeties Jalen Mills and Stantley Thomas-Oliver were placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list.
