    Emergency evacuation center opens for Black Canyon Fire in Yakima County

    YAKIMA CO., Wash. -- Officials said the American Red Cross opened an emergency evacuation center for the Black Canyon Fire in Yakima County.

    According to officials, the evacuation center opened at 12:30 p.m. at the Selah Civic Center at 216 South 1st Street in Yakima. Fire officials are asking everyone in the area of the fire to get to safety immediately.

    Officials said food, cots and other urgent needs are available at the shelter but it's recommended to bring prescriptions and/or emergency medication, extra clothing, pillow, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents and other comfort items for each family member.

    Families with infants or children are urged to bring diapers, formula and toys.
