Celine Dion was rumored to make $2 million to perform during Friday’s 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, but Page Six has exclusively learned why she will not be receiving a big paycheck.
“Contrary to some media reports , the performers at the Paris 2024 Games ceremonies will not receive a fee for their performance,” a spokesperson for the Olympics told us Wednesday.
“Their decision to perform under these conditions reflects their desire to be part of a historic event for France and for the world of sports.”
We’re told, however, that the organization will cover all expenses for the “technical production” and “costs for the performances, as is customary.”

Although the spokesperson would not confirm whether Dion, 56, would be one of the performing acts, a source tells Page Six that the Grammy winner is expected to perform.
She was also seen arriving at the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris on Monday ahead of the Games.
Dion taking the stage later this week would mark her first public performance in years.
She then revealed in December 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome , a rare neurological disorder that causes painful and progressive muscular rigidity and stiffness.

In her recent documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion,” the “Power of Love” singer gave greater insight into her secret health battle, including showing footage of her having a seizure for several minutes.
After the incident, sports medicine therapist Terrill Lobo — who was treating her — warned that she likely suffered a seizure because her brain “was overstimulated” by her going into the recording studio.
“Well, what am I gonna do?” the “All By Myself” singer then asked.
“… If I can’t get stimulated by what I love, and then I’m gonna go onstage and, like, you’re gonna put the pulse oximeter on me and you’re gonna turn me on my back?”

In recent months, the “I’m Alive” singer has made strides to get back into the limelight.

As part of her promo tour, the “That’s The Way It Is” singer had a sit-down with Hoda Kotb, in which she described what it was like to sing with stiff person syndrome.
“It’s like somebody is strangling you ,” she admitted in the candid interview. “It’s like somebody is pushing your larynx/pharynx this way. …. It gets into a spasm.”
Reps for Dion did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
