Will the offense step up during training camp for the Raiders?

All eyes will be on the Raiders’ offense during training camp, as they will battle at the quarterback position. The defense is set to return just about every starter, and with the addition of Christian Wilkins, it is poised to be a dominant unit. But the Raiders need the offense to make major strides if they want to make a postseason push.

In a recent article by ESPN, they wrote about the biggest concern for all 32 teams entering camp. For the Raiders, that was the offense, of course. Here is what the site had to say about the unit going into this week:

The Raiders’ offense, which has star power of its own in three-time first-team All-Pro receiver Davante Adams, is going to have to carry its own weight, especially at quarterback. Which means either second-year returner Aidan O’Connell or vagabond veteran Gardner Minshew will have to look significantly better than they did in OTAs and minicamp. And fast. Even as they install a new scheme under new OC Luke Getsy.

O’Connell and Minshew both struggled in the offseason, but they are learning a new offense, and it will take some time for them to get comfortable. Still, there are a lot of reasons to be concerned about the entire offense going into camp.

If the offense can figure things out and find their rhythm, there is no telling what their ceiling might be. But don’t expect fireworks from this unit anytime soon.
