CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two people were hurt after their car ran off of the road and into standing water in Chesterfield County on Tuesday during heavy rainfall.

According to Chesterfield Fire & EMS, the incident took place the evening of Tuesday, July 22, in the area of Walmsley Boulevard and Wyntrebrooke Drive. The car is said to have run off of the roadway and into about a foot of standing water.

Firefighters responded to the scene and were able to help two adults out of the car. They both had minor injuries.

According to fire officials, weather is believed to have been a factor in this crash. There was very heavy rainfall in the area — enough to warrant a flash flood warning from the National Weather Service. The water has since receded in the area.
