WNBA All-Star Jewell Loyd was recently featured on the CBS Sports Network series "Beyond Limits." The Seattle Storm veteran chimed in on the conversation about the rise of the WNBA, giving credit to rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese for the league's growth.

Loyd explained that the league has been waiting for a spark for years, and this generation, with Clark and Reese, has been able to bring that attention to the WNBA.

“Every couple of years there’s like a generation that comes in and just elevates the league," Loyd said. "We’ve been waiting a long time to have the same accessibilities and the visibility to show what we got and now we have that. It’s nice to be like, ‘Guys, welcome to the show.’”

Reese and Clark starred in the league's 2024 WNBA All-Star game on July 20, helping Team WNBA take down Team USA 117-109. The contest was one of the most viewed events in WNBA history, peaking at over 4 million viewers.

Loyd has been in the league since 2015 and is known as one of the most talented guards on both ends of the floor. The 30-year-old star is currently averaging 19.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

She's been able to see the fluctuating views throughout the years, as well as the increase in ticket and jersey sales.

While the league's viewership has gradually improved, Clark and Reese seem to have taken it to another level. The talented rookies are currently battling for the league's Rookie of the Year award, which has brought attention to the game in casual, regular-season matchups.

Clark is currently averaging 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game, while Reese has posted an average of 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.

Loyd may be introducing Clark and Reese to the show, but the 22-year-olds have already looked like the top two stars in the league.
