Man United sets Jadon Sancho price despite Erik ten Hag peace-making operation

Jadon Sancho might find a lifeline away from Manchester United. It comes courtesy of Paris St Germain — but only if it is prepared to shell out up to $52m (£40m/€48m) for him .

Sancho has returned to training with Manchester United after spending the latter half of the previous season on loan at his old club Borussia Dortmund, following a public disagreement with Erik ten Hag. A meeting between Ten Hag and Sancho earlier this month seemed to clear the air.

The England winger is reported to have reflected on past issues, with both parties agreeing to put their differences aside and move forward. Sancho featured in the second half of United's 2-0 friendly victory over Rangers last weekend, his first match since the Champions League final with his loan club.

He is also part of the squad that jetted off to Los Angeles yesterday for a three-match tour of the US, including friendlies against Arsenal and Liverpool. But PSG has shown interest in signing Sancho on a permanent basis, reports the Mirror .

United is hoping to recover about half of the $94m (£73m/€87m) it shelled out to Dortmund for the winger back in 2021. Sancho found himself sidelined by Ten Hag after publicly challenging his manager's reason for excluding him from the matchday squad for a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last season.

Ten Hag justified Sancho's omission by citing poor training performances. It's a claim which the 24-year-old disputed on social media.

Sancho's time at Manchester United has been full of more downs than ups, with only 82 appearances and 12 goals to his name over three seasons that have left fans wanting more. The winger was granted a three-month break by Erik ten Hag in the previous campaign to address physical and mental health concerns before making his return to the squad.

But if he does stay put this summer, there appears to be an appetite to move on from the issues. Ten Hag has said as much:

"As we said, we've drawn the line," Ten Hag commented on the Sancho situation. "Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on. We've drawn the line. We move on."

However, Sancho's run-out on the left wing against Rangers was a challenging one. He managed to create just one opportunity and took a single shot during his 45 minutes on the pitch at Murrayfield.

Even that solitary attempt demonstrated that he still has some way to go to secure his spot, as he blasted over the bar from 12 yards out. In total, he had just three touches in the Rangers box and failed to deliver an accurate cross.

Liverpool.com says: You never know, but it seems a stretch for Sancho to revive his Manchester United career from here, after Ten Hag kept his job over the summer. A permanent departure would be in everyone's best interests, especially if PSG is prepared to get anywhere close to that asking price.

For Liverpool, there will always be the question of what might have been, with Sancho linked to Anfield before going to Old Trafford. There's little doubt that Jurgen Klopp would have handled things a lot better.
