Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Many believed Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had the chance to become the first ever 2,000-yard receiver last season.

Hill came close with a league-leading 1,799 receiving yards in 16 games, and now that chatter has begun once again as long as he can stay healthy for the entire 2024 season.

On Tuesday, however, the eight-time Pro Bowler revealed he is no longer setting a 2,000-yard goal.

"That'd be great. Grand scenario, that'd be great," Hill said via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. "But I feel like at the same time I have to understand that the position that I'm in and me being one of the leaders and just singling out an individual goal like that -- because I had time to go look at it and talk about it with my family; and that's very selfish of me."

Instead, Hill is focusing on team objectives and doing something he has yet to do since joining Miami in 2022.

"I would want us to, A: win a playoff game," Hill added. "I would love that. We're going to start with that. Then moving forward continuing to build on that, we're going to move to the Super Bowl. It's one step at a time."

Hill isn't completely giving up on the idea of being a 2,000-yard receiver, but he doesn't want it to be forced as he knows opposing teams will do their best to minimize his impact on a weekly basis.

"I'm not saying it's off the table, now," Hill finished. "But I understand how the season goes. Teams prepare to take me out of games. ...There could be situations where I have bad games. But let's not scratch off the 2k yet, all right? If it comes, it comes."

Hill notes that he isn't the only player opponents could try to take out of games. Fellow wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has proven to be a threat of his own after posting three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career.

While Waddle could open things up for Hill from time to time, it's more likely that he is one of the reasons Hill doesn't reach the 2,000-yard receiving mark once again.
