CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Meals on Wheels of Horry and Georgetown County and Guild Mortgage are teaming up to raise $56,000 for Meals On Wheels so they can get a new food sealing machine.

The new machine will allow them to double their food packaging to up to 1,000 meals per day. It will increase the amount of servings per food containers and label the containers with the ingredients, as well as heating instructions.

Guild Mortgage is challenging every realtor in the area to give $100. In return, they will receive a voucher for a free appraisal to gift to a client. The voucher is valued up to $650.

Jason Scully with Guild Mortgage said they wanted to give back to the community that gives so much to them.

“If realtors and such can give back to a great community, and then we can give something back to the realtors from a mortgage standpoint, we just felt like this might really be a good fundraiser,” he said.

Scully said everyone was looking forward to the event.

“Very excited, yes, when we presented it to them. They do have other things going on, but this is specifically every dollar raised will go specifically to the new seal machine and that’s it,” he said. “So, yes, they get donations from everywhere else, but this is something that’s a need.”

Scully said they wanted to team up with Meals on Wheels to reach a different group of people.

“When we met with them about this, we really wanted to tap into a giving market,” Scully said. “A market for them that they don’t always get.”

He explained why they decided to call it “Seal The Deal” and they hope they will be able to do this event next year.

“The event, Seal The Deal, they need a seal machine and realtors and loan officers are always closing deals,” Scully said. “So, put that together and speaking with Michael over at Meals on Wheels, he really hopes that maybe this might be something yearly that we could do that whatever their need might be next year.”

The event wrapped up at about noon Wednesday. If you couldn’t make it, you can still donate. All proceeds raised will go towards Meals on Wheels.
