The department said they conducted an investigation using an underage source to see if the convenience stores across Athens mentioned in complaints would sell alcohol to a minor.

During the investigation, APD said they identified nine people from eight different locations who either sold alcohol to the source or other minors.

    • Mohamed Abdellahi Oumar, 43, of Ardmore
    • Marcus Joe Steelman, 45, of Athens
    • Holly May Prozanski, 39, of Elkmont

    • Hamam Fayez Saleh Zookari, 23, of Madison

“The underage sale of alcohol to minors will not be tolerated due to the devastating effects this could have for our youth and community.  These individuals have a responsibility to help ensure that our youth are unable to purchase alcohol,” Caldwell said.

APD added that the majority of convenience stores in Athens denied alcohol sales to the source.
