    How many athletes in the 2024 Paris Olympics have Texas connections?

    The state of Texas will be well represented at the 2024 Paris Olympics , which began on Wednesday when the U.S. men’s soccer team faced France and officially begin with the Opening Ceremony on Friday.

    Sprinter Dallas-Fort Worth native Sha’Carri Richardson is one of several dozen Texans competing. She will attempt to become the first U.S. woman to win a gold medal n the 100-meter dash since Marion Jones claimed gold in 2000. She was later stripped of the medal for using performance-enhancing supplements.

    Who are the other notable competitors from the Lone Star State?

    Basketball

    The women’s 3X3 team begins competition at 10:30 a.m. on July 30th and the standard team begins at 2:00 p.m. on July 29.

    The men’s national team begins play at 10:15 on July 28.

    Hailey Van Lith:, a TCU player, is a member of U.S. 3x3 women’s team.

    Brittany Griner, a former Baylor standout and a Houston native, is a member of the U.S. women’s team.

    Kevin Durant, who played collegiality at Texas, is a member of the U.S. men’s team.

    Boxing

    The women’s lightweight competition begins at 8:30 a.m. on July 27. Men’s super heavyweight competition is at 4 a.m. on July 29 and flyweight at 4 a.m. on July 28.

    Jennifer Lozano, from Laredo, fights in the lightweight class.

    Joshua Edwards, from Houston, fights in the super heavyweight class.

    Roscoe Hill, from Springs, fights in the flyweight class.

    Breaking

    Breaking, or break dancing, competition is on at 9 a.m. on Aug. 10.

    Competitor Jeffrey Louis is from Houston.

    Cycling

    Cycling will be on starting at 10 a.m. on Aug. 5.

    Grant Koontz is a track cyclist from Houston.

    Diving

    The 3-meter diving will start on July 27 at 4 a.m.

    Alison Gibson, from Austin, will compete in the 3-meter springboard.

    Field Hockey

    Women’s field hockey will start on July 27 at 12:45 a.m.

    Kelsey Bing is a field hockey player from Houston.

    Golf

    The men’s golf tournament will be on Aug. 1 at 2 a.m.

    Scottie Scheffler went to the University of Texas and currently lives in Dallas.

    Gymnastics

    Women’s gymnastics will begin on Jly 28 at 2:30 a.m.

    Simone Biles is from Spring and will compete in the all-around, floor exercise and balance beam competitions.

    Hezly Rivera lives in Plano and will compete in artistic gymnastics.

    Asher Hong was born in Plano and will compete in artistic gymnastics.

    Rowing

    Quadruple sculls will be held on July 27 at 2 a.m.; four’s rowing is on July 28 at 2 a.m.

    Teal Cohen is from Dallas and will compete in quadruple sculling.

    Kaitlin Knifton is from Austin and attended the University of Texas and will be compete in four’s rowing.

    Rugby

    The men’s rugby 7’s begins on July 24 at 10:30 a.m.

    Orrin Bizer is from Woodlands and Kevon Williams from Houston are both members of the men’s rugby team.

    Shooting

    Women’s trap shooting will be held on at July 30 at 2 a.m.; Women’s skeet shooting will be held on Aug. 3 at 2 a.m and men’s skeet shooting will be held on Aug. 2 at 2 a.m.; Men’s rapid-fire pistol shooting will be held on Aug. 4 at 2 a.m.

    Ryann Phillips, from Gail and attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, will compete in trap shooting

    Austen Smith, from Keller and attended the University of Texas, and will compete in skeet shooting.

    Conner Prince, from Burleson, will compete in skeet shooting.

    Keith Sanderson, from San Antonio, will compete in rapid-fire pistol shooting

    Soccer

    The U.S. mens team opens play on July 24 at 2 p.m.; the women’s team opens play on July 25 at 2 p.m.

    Jaedyn Shaw is from Frisco and plays forward.

    Tanner Tessmann is a midfielder who played professionally for FC Dallas.

    Walker Zimmerman is a center-back who played professionally for FC Dallas.

    Climbing

    Speed sports climbing will be held on Aug. 6 at 6 a.m.

    Sam Watson is a speed sports climber from Southlake.

    Swimming

    The women’s 200-meter freestyle will be held July 28 4 a.m.; the women’s 4X100 freestyle is on July 27 at 4 a.m. ; the women’s 50-meter freestyle on Aug. 3 at 4 a.m.; the men’s 200-meter individual medley will be on Aug. 1 at 4 a.m.

    The men’s 100-meter breaststroke will begin on July 27 at 4 a.m.; the men’s 400-meter medley will be held on July 28 at 4 a.m.; the men’s 200-meter freestyle on July 28 at 4 a.m.

    The men’s 1500-meter freestyle will be on Aug. 3 at 4 a.m. and and the open-water 10K race on Aug. 9 at 2:30 a.m.; The Men’s 4X200 freestyle meter relay will be on July 30 at 4 a.m.; the men’s 400-meter freestyle will be on July 27 at 4 a.m.

    Erin Gemmell swims collegiality at the University of Texas and will compete in the 200-meter freestyle.

    Simone Manuel is from Sugar Land and will compete in the 4X100 freestyle relay team and the 50-meter freestyle.

    Shaine Casas swims collegiality at Texas and will compete in the 200-meter individual medley.

    Nic Fink was born in Houston and will compete in the 100-meter breaststroke.

    Carson Foster swam collegiality at Texas and will compete in the 200-meter individual medley and the 400-meter individual medley

    Luke Hobson swam collegiality at Texas and will compete in the 200-meter freestyle.

    David Johnston is from Dallas and will compete in the 1500-meter freestyle event and the open water 10k race.

    Drew Kibler swam collegiality at Texas and will compete in the 4X200-meter freestyle relay.

    Aaron Shackell is from Arlington and will compete in the 400-meter freestyle.

    Taekwondo

    The men’s heavyweight division will be on a Aug. 10 at 2 a.m.

    Jonathan Healy is from Spring and will compete in the heavyweight division.

    Tennis

    Men’s doubles tennis will be on July 27 at 10 a.m.

    Austin Krajicek lives in Plano, attended Texas A&M, and will compete in doubles.

    Track and Field

    The women’s heptathlon will be on Aug. 8 at 3 a.m.; the women’s long jump will be on Aug. 6 at 3 a.m.; the women’s 100-meter hurdles will be on Aug. 7 at 3 a.m.; the women’s pole vault will be on Aug. 5 at 3 a.m.

    The women’s javelin will be on Aug. 7 at3 a.m.; the women’s triple jump will be on Aug. 2 at noon; the women’s 100 meters will be on Au. 2 at 3 a.m..

    The men’s discus will be on Aug. 5 at 3 a.m.; the men’s shot put will be on a Aug. 2 at noon; the men’s 800 meters will be on Aug. 7 at 3 a.m.; the men’s 100-meter will be on Aug. 3 at 3 a.m.

    The men’s decathlon is on atAug. 2 at 3 a.m.; the men’s pole vault begins at noon on Aug. 3.

    Taliyah Brooks is from Wichita Falls and will compete in the heptathlon.

    Tara Davis-Woodhall ran collegiality for Texas and will compete in the long jump.

    Alaysha Johnson is from Spring and will compete in the 100-meter hurdles.

    Brynn King is from the Woodlands and will compete in the pole vault.

    Shamier Little ran collegiality for Texas A&M and is a member of the relay pool.

    Maggie Malone-Hardin was born in College Station before running collegiality for Texas A&M and will compete in the javelin.

    Jasmine Moore is from Grand Prairie and will compete in the long and triple jumps.

    Monae’ Nichols jumped collegiality for Texas Tech and will compete in the long jump.

    Sha’Carri Richardson is from Dallas and will compete in 100 meters and 4X100 meter relay

    Joseph Brown is from Mansfield and will compete in discus.

    Ryan Crouser threw collegiality for Texas and will compete in the shot put.

    Bryce Deadmon is from Missouri City and in the relay pool.

    Bryce Hoppel is from Midland and will run in the 800 meters.

    Fred Kerley is from San Antonio and will run in the 100-meter.

    Jarrion Lawson is from Texarkana and will compete in the long jump.

    Courtney Lindsey ran collegiality for Texas A&M and will be in the relay pool.

    Brandon Miller ran collegiality for Texas A&M and will run in the 800 meters.

    Harrison Williams is from Houston and will run in the decathlon.

    Jacob Wooten is from Tomball and will be in the pole vault.

    Volleyball

    Women’s volleyball will begin at 10 a.m. on July 29.

    Chiaka Ogboguis from Coppell and plays middle blocker.

    Avery Skinner is from Katy and plays outside hitter.

    Weightlifting

    Women’s weightlifting begins at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 7.

    Jourdan Delacruz is from Wylie and will participate in the women’s 49 KG category.
