    Severe thunderstorm warning now in effect for St. Lawrence County

    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – The National Weather Service has announced that a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for St. Lawrence County until 2 p.m.

    A storm was spotted by the NWS around Richville and was moving 20 miles per hour. The weather service said that winds of 60 mph and quarter-sized hail is possible.

    What is a tornado emergency and how is it different from a warning or a watch?

    Locations that could be impacted are Canton, De Kalb, Rensselaer Falls, Hermon, Richville, Pyrites and De Kalb Junction.

    An initial warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties that was in effect until 1:15 p.m. has expired.

    The NWS said a severe storm was found around Carthage and is moving 25 miles per hour.
