This spring, RMU women's hockey forward dedicated her time to volunteering in Tigman Village, Philippines, through the Sticks Together non-profit foundation.

Sticks Together aims "to provide the necessary resources to give children in underprivileged communities the opportunity to learn and play the sport of hockey."

From May 13 to June 7, Primeau, along with five other college hockey players, traveled to Palawan Island, Philippines. Over the three-week period, the group worked with over 55 children, ages 4 to 19.

With the support of the Green Lion program, located next to the hockey court, the children arrived every weekday to play. Kids from outside the village also traveled each morning to join in the hockey activities.

"It was an invaluable experience filled with so much happiness," said Primeau. "Seeing the kids grow over the three weeks made me excited for the future of the game in that location."

Each child not only had the chance to play hockey but also received their own personal hockey stick. Primeau and her colleagues delivered physical education lessons and shared their love for the game.

"It goes beyond the game," Primeau stated. "The sport brings so much love and appreciation. The opportunity provided by Sticks Together is truly special."

A native of Etobicoke, Ontario, Primeau is heading into her senior year with the Colonials. This past season, she played a crucial role for RMU, scoring seven goals, five assists, and 12 points across 27 games.

"Being a part of the RMU Women's Hockey family is something we are all very fortunate to be a part of," said head coach Logan Bittle.

"Giving back to our community both locally and all across the world is something we take a lot of pride in doing. We are so proud of Madison and her continued work with Sticks Together. She is a great ambassador for RMU and our hockey program." Following another successful trip, Primeau and Sticks Together are looking forward to continuing their mission of spreading hockey worldwide in the 2025 off-season.
