NFL Analyst Reveals Bold Take On CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson

CeeDee Lamb is in the midst of a holdout with the Dallas Cowboys. While some players are opting to hold in and show up for practice, Lamb doesn’t appear to even be on the premises.

As such, some are taking this to mean that he is much more serious about getting a new deal. Beyond that, there may be a large gap between what Jerry Jones is offering and what Lamb is looking for.

While the truth of why he chose to hold out instead of holding in remains up in the air, this is only a step in a bigger picture.

Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of the show, Craig Carton claimed that Lamb has produced more than Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson (who recently became the highest-paid receiver in football) and that he should be paid more than him.

“I win. I win every day,” Carton claimed Lamb would say about any comparison between himself and Jefferson.

CeeDee Lamb’s argument hinges on availability

Every player in the NFL wants to make as much as they can as fast as they can. Players can’t stick around the game for long, so when an opportunity to cash in arises, they take it. This appears to be the case with Lamb.

Even in one’s prime, their availability isn’t guaranteed.

Jefferson proved that last season. Jefferson played in just 10 games in 2023. Meanwhile, Lamb played in all 17 games.

If the best ability is availability, Lamb dismantled Jefferson in that category. In turn, staying healthy deserves a reward, based on Carton’s logic. Of course, Jefferson’s argument that he deserves to remain at the top hinges on two big points.

First, he earned more yards in a single season than Lamb has ever done in 2022 when he totaled 1809 yards and eight touchdowns. Second, in 2023, he eclipsed 1000 yards in just 10 games of action with a mix of quarterbacks. In other words, he had tougher circumstances to deal with, proving he could still rise no matter the quarterback. The jury is out on Lamb in recent times on that fact.
