The San Jose Sharks have announced that they have re-signed Henry Thun for two years.

Thrun’s contract is for $2 million which gives him a $1 million AAV. San Jose now has one remaining RFA in Thomas Bordeleau.

“Henry has been a reliable addition to our defense corps since he joined the organization,” Sharks GM Mike Grier said in a statement. “We are encouraged by his development since he came to San Jose and look forward to seeing him continue to grow his game with our club.”

Thrun played in 51 games last season and carried a heavy defensive role late in the year. Thrun had three goals and eight assists.

He was also named Sharks rookie of the year as elected by the media at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old could find himself in a bigger role with the young Sharks defensive core next season.
