LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. — One person was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) after an almost 20-mile chase on Interstate 44 in Lawrence County Wednesday.

Ezekiel Fickbohm is charged with resisting and interfering with arrest and 10 additional misdemeanors after a pursuit ended near Mount Vernon.

According to Sgt. Mike McClure of MSHP Troop D, troopers responded to an accident at the 32-mile marker of I-44 at around 3:20 p.m. When they arrived, a vehicle sped off going east in the median and leading the highway patrol on a chase.

The vehicle continued to speed up in the median, hitting the cable barriers before going into the eastbound I-44 lane around mile marker 36 to avoid spikes set up by law enforcement.

During the chase, Fickbohm allegedly intentionally backed into a trooper’s vehicle, disabling their vehicle. The trooper was not seriously injured.

McClure says the driver was finally stopped at the 51.4-mile marker of I-44 and was taken into custody without further incident.

Fickbohm is currently being held at the Lawrence County Jail with no bond.
