Doña Ana County announces county manager finalists

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The Board of County Commissioners in Doña Ana announced Wednesday, July 24 the four finalists to be considered Doña Ana County’s next county manager.
Finalists will have on-site interviews and community visits on Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10, according to Doña Ana County Commissioners in a news release.
The following are the finalists:
Scott Andrews
Assistant city manager for Bakersfield, California. Andrews has an over 21 years of experience in various roles in the public sector, according to the Doña Ana County Commissioners.
Barbara Bencomo
Chief administrative officer for the City of Las Cruces. Bencomo has worked with the city for over 14 years with a background in technology and healthcare business sectors, according to the Doña Ana County Commissioners.
Stephen Lopez
Interim county manager for Doña Ana County. Prior to his role, Lopez was the emergency manager for the county for three years and served as chief of police for New Mexico State University for over 10 years, according to the Doña Ana County Commissioners.
Mark Tyner
Recently retired county administrator for Calhoun County, Alabama. Tyner served as county administrator for six years and served as county administrator for Bibb County for 15 years, according to the Doña Ana County Commissioners.
“The Board of Commissioners is excited about this pool of qualified candidates and hopes to have a new county manager identified in the coming weeks,” Commission Chair Christopher Schaljo-Hernandez said. “We are committed to including our community in the selection process and look forward to introducing the finalists to residents, highlighting their expertise, while showcasing the unique features that make Doña Ana County a great place to live, work and thrive.”
County Commissioners are also encouraging residents to attend the community meetings to get to know the finalists better. Feedback will be collected via in-person or through an online portal on the Doña Ana County website throughout that weekend, according to the news release.
Locations and times of the community meetings will be announced within the coming week, according to Doña Ana County.
