CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — It’s been over 60 days since President Joe Biden’s disaster declaration, which helped recovery efforts in West Virginia following the severe weather back in April.

To date, survivors have received more than $5.6 million in federal disaster assistance. 11 counties in West Virginia — including Boone, Kanawha, Nicholas, Cabell and Fayette — were eligible for FEMA assistance.

FEMA teams visited 22,000 residences throughout eligible counties, helping residents apply for help and providing a listening ear in their time of need.
