Liverpool transfer news as Pedro Neto 'talks' held amid Matt O'Riley stance

The wait is almost over for Liverpool fans to see their team back in action under new head coach Arne Slot.
The wait for a new signing though continues . The Reds are currently in the United States as their pre-season preparations step up a gear. Slot will lead his side in friendlies against Real Betis, Arsenal, and Manchester United before returning to Merseyside.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, including reported talks for Pedro Neto and the latest on Matt O'Riley.
Pedro Neto (Wolves)
Liverpool has held discussions with Pedro Neto's representatives and Wolves over a possible transfer, according to GIVEMESPORT . It's suggested that the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, will push for Neto to make the move to Anfield .
He still has three years remaining on his contract at Wolves, putting the Molineux club in a strong position, although Arne Slot is said to be seriously considering lodging a bid for the Portugal international.
Liverpool.com says: Neto is one of those players who seems a good fit for Liverpool. He’s certainly given the Reds a few headaches when he’s come up against them over the years.
The problem is his injury record. Neto has spent a lot of time out of action, which puts a huge question mark over his suitability for the Reds. There’s no doubting his ability when he’s fit, but half the battle seems to be getting him onto the pitch.
Matt O'Riley (Celtic)
Liverpool is not considering a move for Celtic's Matt O'Riley, according to the ECHO .
The 23-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer. Reports claim Celtic has already rejected a bid from Atalanta. The Reds though aren't considering any sort of move at the moment, despite O’Riley impressing against Manchester City .
Liverpool.com says: It really does seem as though we won’t be getting any signings until Arne Slot has had a closer look at his squad out in the US. That is understandable, although it won’t settle fans’ nerves much, with very little time between the Reds returning from their tour and the start of the new season.
