Keegan Bradley lets Tiger Woods know if he's wanted by Team USA for Ryder Cup

Team USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has insisted that he wants Tiger Woods "to be involved" at the next tournament in 2025 - following on from the legendary star's decision to snub the chance to be skipper.

The 15-time major championships victor was the popular choice to be installed as America's helmsman for the contest at Bethpage Black Course. However, the 48-year-old icon shocked the sporting world as he revealed that he would not be taking up the post vacated by previous captain Zach Johnson .

The latter had overseen a poor showing from the U.S. in Rome in 2023 as their drought on European soil extended to 30 years. Still, 82-time PGA Tour winner Woods could not be snared as he confirmed that other commitments had made it difficult for him to give the green light in terms of taking the captaincy.

With the aforementioned Bradley now instead installed in the role, it remains to be seen what decisions he will take as he ushers in a new era for Team USA. As the Ryder Cup returns to the country for its next edition, he appears to be keeping the door open for Woods to take part - if he so wishes in two years' time.

The legendary golfer boasts an enviable amount of experience, having featured in eight Ryder Cup teams before today. Revealing his stance on the prospect, the skipper has confirmed at the 3M Open in Minnesota: "I've told Tiger that I want him to be as involved as he wants to be.

"We didn't. With the British Open going on, we're not really chatting too much about that," he continued, before confirming that the right time will come for him to talk with his compatriot. "We both have a job to do and I don't want to bother Tiger with that. I think in the coming months - we're still 14 months out here, so we've got a long time."

As for Woods, he was open about his dilemma as he revealed the thought process behind his decision to reject the chance to take up the role as Team USA captain. Speaking about the call at the Open recently, the American hero confessed: "As for The decision was very difficult for me to make.

"My time has been so loaded with the Tour and everything and what we're trying to accomplish. I'm on so many different subcommittees that it just takes so much time in the day, and I'm always on calls. I told Seth (Waugh, the PGA of America retiring CEO) that I just didn't feel like I could do the job properly.

He added: "I couldn't devote the time. I barely had enough time to do what I'm doing right now, and add in the TGL starts next year, as well as the Ryder Cup. You add all that together and then with our negotiations with the PIF, all that concurrently going on at exactly the same time, there's only so many hours in the day."
