    45 days till Patriots season opener: Every player to wear No. 45 for New England

    The New England Patriots will open their 2024 campaign against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is now 45 days away.

    Until the opening kickoff of the season for the Patriots, we'll be counting down each day by looking back at those who have worn each specific jersey number.

    Since 1960, 15 players have worn No. 45 in New England, and with 45 days until their first game of the year, here's a look at everyone who's worn the number for the team:

    TE Jacob Warren: Present

    • Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2024 out of Tennessee
    • Expected to compete for a depth roster/practice squad spot

    LB Chris Board: 2023

    • Appeared in 17 games for New England in one season with the team, recording 10 tackles
    • Also played for the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions

    DB Michael Jackson: 2020

    • Appeared in one game for New England in one season with the team, recording one tackle
    • Also played for the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks

    LB David Harris: 2017

    • Appeared in 10 games for New England in his one season with the team, recording 22 tackles), two quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks and a pass defensed
    • Also played for the New York Jets

    CB Otis Smith: 1996-2002

    • Appeared in 56 games for New England over four seasons, recording 191 tackles (seven for a loss), 37 passes defensed, 10 interceptions, three sacks, four fumble recoveries and a forced fumble
    • Won Super Bowl with the Patriots
    • Also played for the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions

    LB Dana Cottrell: 1998

    • Appeared in two games for New England in his one season with the team

    RB Ivy Joe Hunter: 1991

    • Appeared in 13 games for New England in his one season with the team, rushing for 53 yards on 2.9 yards per attempt and catching 11 passes for 97 yards
    • Also played for the Indianapolis Colts

    WR Michael Timpson: 1989-90

    • Appeared in 70 games for New England, catching 172 passes for 2,472 yards and eight touchdowns
    • Also played for the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles

    DB Joe Peterson: 1987

    • Appeared in three games for New England as a replacement player during the strike, recording an interception and a fumble recovery

    RB Greg Taylor: 1982

    • Appeared in one game for New England in one season with the team, returning two kicks for 46 yards

    DB Jack Mildren: 1974

    • Appeared in 14 games for New England in his one season with the team, recording three interceptions and two fumble recoveries
    • Also played for the Baltimore Colts

    WR Hubie Bryant: 1971

    • Appeared in 13 games for New England over two seasons, returning 10 punts for 24 yards and 10 kicks for 252 yards
    • Also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers

    LB Dan Kecman: 1970

    • Appeared in one game for Boston in one season with the team

    LB Ray Ilg: 1967-68

    • Appeared in 28 games for Boston over two seasons, recording one sack

    TE/DB Thomas Stephens: 1960-64

    • Appeared in 49 games for Boston over five seasons, recording 41 receptions for 506 yards and five touchdowns along with an interception

    RB Jerry Green: 1960

    • Appeared in two games for Boston in one season with the team, catching three passes for 52 yards
