July 25 Muscatine’s Almost Friday Fest canceled

UPDATE : The City of Muscatine will keep Riverside Park closed to the public through the weekend so that cleanup efforts can continue. The city anticipates reopening the riverfront area on Monday, weather permitting, a news release says.

EARLIER : According to a news release from the City of Muscatine, the Almost Friday Fest scheduled for Thursday, July 25 at Riverside Park has been canceled. The grassy area where musicians set up is still affected by the receding Mississippi River.

The Muscatine Public Works, Parks and Recreation and Fire Departments are working to clean debris and mud from the parking lot on the downriver end of the park, near the playground area. Crews hope to have some of the parking lot opened later today.
