COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is charged with murder after a shooting in north Coffee County.

According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, deputies found Thomas Randolph, 37, dead from a gunshot wound to the neck after responding to a possible homicide scene Wednesday evening.

Randolph was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle on Shiloh Road in the Lakewood Park area of Beechgrove. According to the sheriff’s office, Randolph apparently had a confrontation that led to shots fired into the truck he was in.

Authorities determined the shooter was Phillip Meadows, 40, of Lakewood Park. According to District Attorney General Craig Northcott, Meadows fired at Randolph and his vehicle multiple times.

In a release, Northcott said Meadows also took steps prior to law enforcement’s arrival to hide the gun and other evidence.
