Corey LaJoie Not Returning To Spire Motorsports In 2025, And NASCAR Fans Want Kyle Busch To Take His Ride

Is this is exit ramp KFB has been looking for? It's no secret that Kyle Busch
hasn't been very happy with his team's performance lately. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion is currently sitting 18th in points, in serious danger of missing the playoffs if he doesn't win in the next few races, and has only two top 5 finishes all season. A string of poor finishes (some of which have just been due to bad luck) has only added to the frustration, with Busch admitting that his team needs to get it together: https://twitter.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1814337688864010287 Of course one of those poor finishes came thanks to Corey LaJoie, driver of the #7 car for Spire Motorsports. At Pocono two weeks ago, LaJoie got into Busch on a restart and sent the #8 car spinning in front of the field, ruining his day and leaving Busch vowing that "payback is coming." Well we don't know what kind of payback Busch had in mind, but taking his ride would be the ultimate revenge - and that just might become a reality. LaJoie announced today that he would not be returning to Spire Motorsports in 2025, a move that's not all that surprising due to his poor showing this season. https://twitter.com/bobpockrass/status/1816527825526235421 Over his Cup Series career, LaJoie has only managed to score 9 top 10 finishes in 258 starts, with only 3 of those being in the top 5. He's also been involved in his fair share of on-track incidents this year, often drawing criticism from his fellow drivers (like Busch). So naturally, fans see the opportunity for Busch to not only escape his situation at Richard Childress Racing, but to step into the ride of LaJoie, as a chance for Busch to not only get payback on LaJoie but also to improve his chances at competing for a championship next season. https://twitter.com/NASCAR247/status/1816530220004082034 And while it may not seem like much of an upgrade to go from RCR to Spire, it could actually make more sense than it appears on the surface. Spire recently bought Busch's Truck Series team, Kyle Busch Motorsports. And the team has been investing heavily in talent, shelling out what's assumed to be big bucks to land champion crew chief Rodney Childers, who had his choice of landing spots after Stewart-Haas Racing announced they were closing up shop at the end of the year. Of course the team also seems like a natural landing spot for Zane Smith, who's currently signed to Trackhouse Racing but has been loaned to Spire this season. Trackhouse will presumably be adding a third cup team next season, but along with Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez, also has Shane Van Gisbergen under contract. Trackhouse is likely to want to elevate Gisbergen, who's had more success this season and is further along in his career, so they may be willing to either continue to loan Smith to Spire or release him from his contract to take the #7 car. So while it sounds like a longshot that Busch might get the ride, it might be something to keep an eye on, especially if RCR isn't able to turn things around pretty quick. Spire has shown they're willing to spend whatever it takes to build a winning team, and Kyle seems desperate to get into a better situation. Plus I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting the ultimate payback on Corey LaJoie. https://twitter.com/DannyBTalks/status/1816530984894083190 https://twitter.com/TaylorBMcardle/status/1816528657659420824 https://twitter.com/DanielKriete4/status/1816529928633913739
