BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two people were killed Monday evening after an SUV collided with a tractor-trailer in Bedford County, authorities said.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), a Peterbilt tractor-trailer was stopped at the intersection of Highway 82 East and Highway 231 North at approximately 6:22 p.m. on Monday, July 22 while a Nissan Ariya was heading north on Highway 231 North.

Officials said the tractor-trailer driver traveled east through the intersection and pulled out in front of the Nissan, which hit and traveled underneath the trailer before continuing another 100 yards and coming to a stop in the median.

The driver and the passenger of the Nissan — identified by THP as 46-year-old Kristi Gentry and 28-year-old Brandon Gentry, both of Tennessee — were wearing their seatbelts, but they died in the crash.
