Earlier this year, Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy adopted the now-famous Miss Peaches. Although this sweet dog’s life started in dire conditions, this gorgeous rescue now enjoys private plane rides and multiple beach houses.
As she has become more comfortable in her new world, she has also begun to exhibit some naughty behaviors. While she is a good girl at heart, her mischievous ways have led to a night in the hospital. So, her proud Papa has sought the help of a professional trainer, and now she is demonstrating her intelligence alongside her charm and beauty.

What a terrific student! Even though it’s hard to imagine Miss Peaches (@ famousmisspeaches ) doing anything wrong, she has found herself in a bit of trouble. She’s not only chewed up Gucci loafers, dead things on the beach, and the contents of a makeup bag, but she also ate some xylitol-sweetened gum , which is highly toxic to dogs. Unfortunately, this meant she had spent a night in the hospital being monitored and receiving fluids. Thankfully, she’s no worse for wear because of the quick and excellent medical care she received. But her dad felt it was time to teach her boundaries before she got into something that didn’t have a happy ending. Not to mention, this little rascal has also been escaping like Houdini from her enclosures, which is enough to give any pet parent a heart attack.

It didn’t take dog behavior expert Tom Davis (@tomdavis) long to teach her the “Leave it” command. She shows off her newly learned skill as Tom throws her favorite treats on the ground. She keeps moving along without hesitation (except for one) and waits for Tom to reward her. She’s also learned the down command, which she does the moment she’s asked. Good job, Peachy!

Teaching our dogs to “ Leave it ” can help prevent them from ingesting harmful foods or objects. It is also a way for pet parents to strengthen their bonds with their dogs and an important tool for teaching impulse control.
