CeeDee Lamb Breaks Silence on Contract Holdout With Cowboys

    By Dave Holcomb,

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb may not be at Dallas Cowboys training camp, but that doesn't mean he's not training. And while he trained away from the team in Houston on Thursday, Lamb provided an update on what it will take to end his holdout.

NFL Network's Jane Slater reported on X (formerly Twitter) that a source close to Lamb told her "it just has to make sense" from a contract standpoint for him to return to the Cowboys.

Lamb has one year left on his rookie contract, which is his fifth-year option. While the option will pay Lamb $17.9 million in 2024, he has no security beyond this season.

Slater posted a video from Lamb's workout along with his contract update on X.

Lamb has posted at least 74 catches and 900 receiving yards in each of his four NFL seasons with the Cowboys. Last year, he led the league with 135 receptions and was second with 1,749 receiving yards.

He also had 12 touchdowns as he made first-team All-Pro and the Pro Bowl.

Lamb has placed the Cowboys in a difficult position. In addition to needing to extend Lamb, quarterback Dak Prescott will need a new contract next offseason.

Defensive Player of the Year candidate Micah Parsons will also need an extension soon. Parsons' contract will expire after 2025, which is the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.

In the midst of these contract disputes, the Cowboys are trying to advance to the NFC championship game for the first time since January 1996.
