Jets RB Breece Hall Makes A Bold Guarantee For 2024 Season

Despite the New York Jets playing from behind seemingly in every game last season, running back Breece Hall was just six yards shy of hitting the 1,000-yard plateau.

But the 23-year-old is so confident he’ll top the 994 yards rushing he had last season that he guaranteed he’ll have more than 1,000 yards rushing in 2024.

“I’m for sure going to have 1,000-plus yards this year, so that isn’t even anything that’s in the back of my mind,” Hall told reporters on Thursday. “…If we do what we’re supposed to as a team, I’m happy with whatever individual goals [I achieve].”

Though he missed out on 1,000 yards last year, it was actually because of a mathematical error on the Jets end and not because of anything Hall did. In fact, head coach Robert Saleh acknowledged after the team’s regular-season finale their goal was to get Hall to 1,000 yards.

“Yeah, we were aware [of how close he was],” Saleh said at the time. “One of our mathematicians was wrong. We thought he got it, but then we were 10 yards off. But we were trying to get it for him on that last run; otherwise we would have taken a knee.”

If Hall does reach 1,000 yards next season, he’ll be the first Jets running back to do so since Chris Ivory had 1,070 yards in 2015. New York has had just two 1,000-yard rushers and three 1,000-yard rushing seasons since 2010.
