Las Vegas Raiders rookie could end up regretting what he did at training camp

A lot of Las Vegas Raiders fans are not going to like what I have to say about a video that is currently going viral. But, just hang in there, and know that this comes from a place of love.

Now, after prefacing that this is going to be an article that could be controversial, I'd like to start by saying it feels incredibly good to have Raiders football back, and it feels even better that training camp is here, and the Raiders are in Southern California holding training camp in Costa Mesa, just 30 miles away from where head coach Antonio Pierce and cornerback Jack Jones grew up.

But, training camp is where the real work gets started. It's where the team starts their 2024 season, because now, every week, they will have football. The pads aren't on yet, and won't be till next week, but this is where the real work begins.

That being said, it's okay to have fun. It's okay to play some jokes and games, or even pranks. This experience - going to training camp away from home- is supposed to help with team chemistry and bonding. Sure, the work is serious, but the bonding is fun, too.

However, what one rookie did after practice, is something that he could end up regretting, and may even get chewed out for.

Trey Taylor, a very smart, and mature rookie who was drafted out of the Air Force, saw a fan at training camp with a Kermit the Frog muppet puppet. This was not a normal one, though, this one had on a Kansas City Chiefs jersey with Patrick Mahomes' signature hairstyle. Here's the deal, fans can do that, but Taylor went over and put the muppet on his hand and started to mock Mahomes.

Now, some fans may love that he did that, but, it's really not a good look.

Let's start with this: Mahomes is 10-2 against the Raiders all time and has never lost inside Allegiant Stadium. And, Mahomes just won his third Super Bowl, as many as the entire Raiders franchise, in back-to-back fashion, on the Raiders home turf, and celebrated in the Raiders locker room. They won a Super Bowl in Allegiant Stadium before the Raiders ever won a playoff game there.

This is not a good look by the players. Sure, fans can do it, but once the players do it, especially a rookie, not only does it look dumb because he has killed you in the past, but it also gives him and the Chiefs bulletin board material.

If you want to be the best, you have to respect the best. Fans will hate this but, do you see the Chiefs ever doing anything like this? No. They have a culture and a winning way - there is a reason they are going for a three-peat.

If the Raiders have the leaders they say they have on the team, Taylor should get chewed out for this. Like I said - this is all coming from a place of love. I'm tired of the Raiders embarrassing themselves, and making themselves look dumb, and I know the fan base is too, and this certainly doesn't help.
