Westchester officials and the nonprofit Westchester Disabled on the Move came together Thursday to mark 34 years since the signing of the Americans With Disabilities Act. It was on July 26, 1990 when landmark civil rights bill was signed into law, which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities, in all aspects of public life. Westchester County Executive George Latimer and the Westchester County Board of Legislators were on hand at the event. "I think it's important that we see the people who are often unseen. I think it's very important that we all do the best we can to make sure their concerns are heard just like anybody else's," said Legislator Nancy Barr. Organizers also announced that July 30 will now be celebrated as "Westchester Disabled on the Move Day" in Westchester County. "
