Slot might need to focus on keeping some of his current players though. Speculation continues over Trent Alexander-Arnold ’s future, and now there are new reports raising doubts over Mohamed Salah .
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds on Friday, including the latest on Salah.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Mohamed Salah could still leave Liverpool this summer, with GIVEMESPORT claiming the Egyptian may make a U-turn on his future. It was expected that the 32-year-old would stay put at Anfield despite more interest from Saudi Arabia and a contract that is now into its final 12 months.
The report though suggests that Salah will make a decision after seeing how things shape up under Arne Slot. It’s claimed that Al-Ittihad remains on high alert, having initially believed it would be near impossible to secure his signature this summer.
Liverpool.com says: It was inevitable that the Salah rumors would spring up again, it was just a question of when. It’s not the most outlandish idea if Salah is gauging what life will be like post-Jurgen Klopp before deciding on his future – after all, Virgil van Dijk has virtually said he’s doing the same.
Hopefully though there’s enough over the next few weeks to convince Salah to stay put. It would feel a bit of a waste if he were to move to Saudi Arabia now.
Gleison Bremer (Juventus)
Juventus has told Liverpool how much it will cost them to sign Gleison Bremer this summer, according to Football Insider . The Reds have been told they will have to cough up $64m (£50m/€59m) if they want the Brazilian.
Bremer is claimed to be a ‘top target’ for Liverpool as they prioritize defensive reinforcements. It’s also suggested that 19-year-old Dean Huijsen, also at Juventus, is seen as ‘one for the future’ by the Reds’ transfer chiefs.
Liverpool.com says: Bremer isn’t the most expensive option out there if that price is accurate. At 27 though, Liverpool might see signing him as too big a risk, considering they could do with a younger option to eventually succeed Van Dijk.
