Long Island has the lowest percentage of bridges in poor condition in the state, according to a new report by the New York State Comptroller. The report found that a total of eight bridges in Nassau and Suffolk are considered to be in poor condition. This includes the William Floyd Parkway bridge over Narrow Bay in Mastic Beach, and Bridge Road in Manhasset. Nassau and Suffolk counties also had the lowest percentage of bridges rated in good condition at just over 24%. According to the report’s findings, 73% of the bridges were rated in fair condition. Authorities say the estimated improvement costs are just over $751 million. "
