A FL Publix Has Filed Plans For Demolition & Rebuilding. The $11 Million Project Is 55,454 SF

If you live in Florida, you know that buildings in the Sunshine State can suffer wear and tear over time. Apparently, grocery stores are no exception because many Floridians also know that it's not unusual for Publix stores to demolish older stores and replace them with new, improved ones. I've written about stores in Fort Myers and Lakeland that are being knocked down for new stores, as just a few examples. And now, it appears that a store in St. Petersburg is getting the same treatment.

About The Store In Question: The Publix at 3900 66th St. North in St. Petersburg is currently 56,690 square feet and was built in 1976.

The store has been reviewed over 2,100 times on Google reviews and earns 4.6 out of 5 stars. Many compliment the cleanliness, the customer service, and the deli. A reviewer named Aaron wrote, in part:

"At 3:15 pm today, I had the absolutely best customer service from Judy in the deli area. The store was out of what I needed to have my order made, and she made something even better for me..."

The Submitted Plans For Demolition And New Store: Plans for the new Publix indicate the $11 million project would include a 2,100-square-foot liquor store. However, the store in total would be a bit smaller than the current store, which is 56,690 square feet versus the 55,454 square feet planned for the new store, if approved.
